Tom Seaver, also known as "Tom Terrific," was a legendary baseball pitcher who played for four different teams during his 20-year career in the Major Leagues. Born in Fresno, California in 1944, Seaver grew up playing baseball and attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in liberal arts. After a brief stint in the Marine Corps Reserve, Seaver signed with the New York Mets in 1966 and quickly became one of the team's star players. More about Tom Seaver

Seaver's time with the Mets is arguably the most significant period of his baseball career. He helped lead the team to its first World Series victory in 1969, winning the National League Cy Young Award that season and establishing himself as one of the best pitchers in the league. Seaver continued to play for the Mets until 1977, earning three Cy Young Awards and six All-Star selections during that time.
