Larry Wilson was drafted in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1960. Despite not being a highly sought-after recruit, he quickly established his dominance on the field. Wilson was known for his hard-hitting tackles and his ability to read quarterbacks' plays. He played for the Cardinals for 13 years, earning numerous accolades, including eight Pro Bowl selections, and two times being named an All-Pro. Wilson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978, recognizing his contributions to the sport and his exemplary career.

Wilson's contributions to the sport extend beyond his playing days, and he continued to be involved in football as a coach, executive, and broadcaster. He served as the head coach for the Cardinals for three seasons in the late 1970s and later worked as a defensive coach for the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson was respected by his peers for his knowledge and dedication to football throughout his career. He set a high standard for those that followed him and left a strong legacy in American Football that is celebrated to this day.
