Steve Spurrier is a former American football player, coach, and broadcaster who is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time. Born on April 20, 1945, in Miami Beach, Florida, Spurrier played college football at the University of Florida as a quarterback. Steve Spurrier became one of the greatest coaches in college football history during his storied coaching career. He led the Florida Gators to six SEC championships and the 1996 national championship while coaching from 1990 to 2001. He then moved on to coach at the University of South Carolina from 2005 to 2015, where he won the SEC East three times and became the school's all-time winningest coach. Spurrier's innovative offensive schemes and coaching style changed the game of football and cemented his legacy as one of the most influential figures in the history of American football.
