Jason Chimera is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 17 seasons. Born on May 2, 1979, in Edmonton, Alberta, Chimera played his major junior hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Chimera played for the Oilers for five seasons before he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in 2003. He played two seasons with the Coyotes before he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he played for six seasons. Chimera's most productive NHL season came in 2011-12, with the Washington Capitals, when he scored a career-high 20 goals and added 19 assists. In 2016, Chimera signed with the New York Islanders in free agency, and he spent two seasons with the team before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2018. He played his final NHL season with the Ducks in 2018-19.

Throughout his NHL career, Chimera was known for his speed, physicality, and hard work. He played a total of 1079 regular season games, scoring 186 goals and 224 assists for a total of 410 points. He also played in 70 postseason games, scoring seven goals and nine assists. Chimera was a fan favorite in every city he played in, and he was respected by his teammates and opponents alike for his toughness and dedication to the game.
