Al Lopez is best known for his coaching career, which spanned 18 years. He started as a coach for the Cleveland Indians in 1951 and led the team to a World Series victory in 1954. Lopez then went on to coach the Chicago White Sox from 1957 to 1965, where he won the American League pennant twice.
