Andy LaRoche was born on September 13, 1983, in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born into a family of baseball players as his father Dave was also a former professional baseball player. Andy followed in his father's footsteps and started playing baseball from an early age. He attended Greybull High School in Wyoming, where he played baseball for the Greybull Buffalos. LaRoche was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 39th round of the 2002 MLB draft. He spent six years in the Dodgers system, where he developed into a top prospect. In 2006, he made his major league debut for the Dodgers but spent most of the season in the minor leagues. In 2007, he was the starting third baseman for the Dodgers, and he hit .226 with 5 home runs in 122 games. He continued to play for the Dodgers until he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008.

LaRoche played for several teams throughout his career, including the Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Cleveland Indians. He played his last professional game in 2017 for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League, ending his baseball career. Despite not having an outstanding baseball career, LaRoche had a decent career, playing in 403 games and hitting .226 with 22 home runs and 133 RBIs.
