Babe Ruth, born George Herman Ruth Jr., was a legendary professional baseball player who is considered one of the greatest of all time. Ruth was born in Baltimore in 1895, and grew up as a delinquent child who was essentially abandoned by his parents. At the age of seven, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, where he developed his love of baseball.
