Bill Mueller was an American former professional baseball player born on March 17, 1971, in Maryland. Mueller was an infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 11 seasons, debuting with the San Francisco Giants in 1996. He played for various teams, including the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers before retiring in 2006. Basketball was also one of his interests while he was in high school. Mueller's career in MLB was notable for his exceptional hitting skills, particularly during his five-year tenure with the Boston Red Sox. With the team, he hit 57 home runs, 365 runs batted in, and had a batting average of .303. Mueller won the American League batting title in 2003 with a .327 average, as well as the respected Silver Slugger award that year. His remarkable performance also helped the Red Sox win their first World Series Championship in 86 years in 2004, with Mueller making significant contributions during the postseason.

After retiring from professional baseball, Mueller joined the Los Angeles Dodgers as the hitting coach in 2015. He later became the assistant hitting coach with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019. Mueller's experience as a player and his expertise in hitting made him a valuable coaching asset for any team he worked for.
