Bob Forsch was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on January 13, 1950, in Sacramento, California. After attending Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento, Forsch signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1968. Forsch spent the majority of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1974 to 1988. He pitched in 386 games and recorded 1,079 strikeouts during his time with the Cardinals. He was known for his durability and consistency, as he made at least 30 starts in nine different seasons. He also earned two National League All-Star selections in 1980 and 1982.

In addition to his time with the Cardinals, Forsch also played for the Houston Astros from 1988 to 1989. He retired from baseball after the 1989 season with a career record of 168-136 and a 3.76 ERA. Forsch passed away on November 3, 2011, at the age of 61 due to an aneurysm. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest pitchers in St. Louis Cardinals history.
