Gibson's career would not have been complete without his impressive pitching records. He holds the record for the longest scoreless inning streak in postseason history, which lasted for 27 consecutive innings across three World Series (1967-1968). He won the 1968 NL pitching triple crown with a 22-9 record, 1.12 ERA, and 268 strikeouts. Gibson was also a nine-time All-Star and a two-time World Series champion. He retired with 251 wins, 3,117 strikeouts, and a 2.91 ERA. Additionally, Gibson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981.

Bob Gibson's on-the-field success was due to his commanding presence, coupled with his powerful and accurate fastball, and his devastating slider. His playing style made him a pioneer, and his record-breaking accomplishments ended up making him a legend. His contributions to baseball still impact the game today, both on and off the field. Gibson became a vocal advocate for African-American players during his post-playing career years due to the discrimination he faced when he played in the majors. Gibson's legacy is felt across the sport, from the Bob Gibson All-Star Game MVP Award to players wearing "45" on their uniform in tribute to the Hall of Famer's jersey number.
