Turley made his major league debut with the Browns in 1951 but it wasn't until he was traded to the New York Yankees in 1955 that he truly made his mark. In 1958, Turley became the recipient of the American League Cy Young Award, after posting a record of 21-7 and leading the Yankees to the World Series championship. His very best season, however, was in 1960, when he went 16-12 with a 3.28 ERA, earning him his only All-Star selection. Over the course of his career, Turley's overall record was 101-85, with a 3.64 ERA and 1,265 strikeouts.

After retiring from baseball, Turley worked as a television sports broadcaster and authored his own cookbook. He remained active in baseball and founded a successful baseball camp in 1976. Bob Turley passed away in March 2013, leaving behind a legendary career as a baseball player and a lasting impact on the world of sports. Read even more about Bob Turley at Wikipedia
