Boog Powell was born on August 17, 1941 in Lakeland, Florida. He grew up with a passion for baseball and played for his high school team. In 1959, at the age of 18, Powell was signed by the Baltimore Orioles as an amateur free agent. He spent a few years playing in the minor leagues before making his major league debut with the Orioles in 1961. More about Boog Powell

Powell quickly made a name for himself as a powerful hitter and a solid fielder. He played for the Orioles from 1961 until 1974, helping them win the American League pennant in 1966 and the World Series in both 1966 and 1970. During his career with the Orioles, Powell was named to four All-Star teams and won two Silver Slugger Awards.
