Powell quickly made a name for himself as a powerful hitter and a solid fielder. He played for the Orioles from 1961 until 1974, helping them win the American League pennant in 1966 and the World Series in both 1966 and 1970. During his career with the Orioles, Powell was named to four All-Star teams and won two Silver Slugger Awards. He also had a reputation for being a clutch hitter, particularly in playoff games, and his home runs were known for their distance and power.

In 1975, Powell was traded to the Cleveland Indians, where he played for two seasons before retiring from baseball in 1977. Over the course of his career, he accumulated a .266 batting average, 339 home runs, and 1187 RBIs. Powell's legacy as one of baseball's great sluggers lives on, and he is considered one of the greatest players in Orioles history. In 1979, Powell was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame, and his number 26 was retired by the team in 2001. Read even more about Boog Powell at Wikipedia
