In 2008, he was drafted by Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the MLB draft. After a few years in the minor leagues, Lawrie made his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011, where he played for three seasons. In 2014, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics, where he spent two seasons before being traded again to the Chicago White Sox. He played for the White Sox in 2016 before being released and ultimately retiring from professional baseball in 2019.

Throughout his career, Lawrie was known for his aggressive playing style and impressive defensive skills. He was also a consistent hitter and had a career batting average of .261 with 71 home runs and 253 RBIs. Despite injuries that hindered his playing time in later years, Lawrie remains a respected figure in the baseball world and his contributions to the sport will not be forgotten.
