Brian McCann is a former professional baseball player who played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 15 seasons. He was born on February 20, 1984, in Athens, Georgia. McCann attended Duluth High School in Duluth, Georgia, where he played both baseball and football. McCann spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves, where he established himself as one of the best catchers in the league. He was a seven-time All-Star, won five Silver Slugger awards, and earned a Gold Glove in 2010. McCann was known for his excellent defensive skills behind the plate, as well as his ability to hit for power. He hit at least 18 home runs in eight different seasons, and finished his career with 282 home runs and a .262 batting average.

In addition to his time with the Braves, McCann also played for the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Philadelphia Phillies. He won a World Series championship with the Astros in 2017, and retired from baseball after the 2019 season. McCann was highly respected by his teammates and coaches for his leadership, work ethic, and competitiveness. He was known for his ability to handle a pitching staff, and was regarded as one of the best catchers of his generation.
