He also won the National League’s Rolaids Relief Man Award three times. Despite facing numerous injuries and setbacks throughout his career, Sutter still managed to make 661 career appearances and record 300 saves. In 2006, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for his contribution to the sport.

After his baseball career, Sutter remained involved in the sport he loved. He briefly served as a coach for the Phillies and the Braves. In 2016, Sutter became a part of the Chicago Cubs’ front office as an assistant to the president. His legacy in the sport remains strong, with many considering him one of the best relief pitchers of all time. Even today, his split-finger fastball is still being used by many pitchers in the MLB, a validation of his incredible contribution to the sport. Read even more about Bruce Sutter at Wikipedia
