Fisk began his professional career in 1967 when he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox. He played for the Red Sox for eleven seasons, during which he became one of the team's most successful players. In 1975, he helped the team win the American League championship, and he was also instrumental in their historic victory in the 1975 World Series. Fisk's most famous moment came during game six of the series, where he hit a home run that people still talk about today. In 1981, Fisk was signed by the Chicago White Sox, where he played for another ten seasons, cementing his status as one of the greatest catchers of all time.

Throughout his career, Carlton Fisk won numerous accolades and set various records. He was a seven-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger Award winner and won the Gold Glove Award for his fielding in 1972. He also held the record for the most career home runs by a catcher (351) until 2009.
