Cecil Fielder began his career in 1985 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He played for the Blue Jays until 1988, and then moved to Japan to play for the Hanshin Tigers for one season. In 1990, Fielder returned to the United States and was signed by the Detroit Tigers. Fielder's greatest season came in 1990 when he hit 51 home runs and 132 RBIs, earning him the American League home run crown and an All-Star selection.

In 1996, Cecil Fielder was traded to the New York Yankees, where he won his first and only World Series in 1996. He played for the Yankees until 1997 before being traded to the Anaheim Angels. After playing for the Angels for a year, he finished his career with the Cleveland Indians in 1998. Cecil Fielder retired with a career batting average of .255, 319 home runs, and 1,008 RBIs.
