Chris Volstad Autographs
Chris Volstad is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on September 23, 1986 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Volstad attended high school at Palm Beach Gardens High School where he excelled as a baseball player. In the 2005 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Florida Marlins, and he began his professional baseball career in the team's minor league system, pitching for the Gulf Coast Marlins, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and the Jupiter Hammerheads.
Volstad's professional baseball career began in earnest on July 6th, 2008 when he made his MLB debut against the Colorado Rockies. Volstad pitched six innings, gave up three runs, and managed to record a quality start in his first game. He continued to pitch well for the Marlins, racking up a 6-4 record by the end of the 2008 season. His pitching performance slowly dipped over the next few seasons, and the Marlins eventually traded him to the Chicago Cubs in 2012 in exchange for Carlos Zambrano. While he was with the Cubs, Volstad made 21 appearances, pitching to a record of 3-12. After his tenure in Chicago, Volstad bounced around a number of MLB teams, including the Colorado Rockies, the Los Angeles Angels, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Following his MLB career, Volstad signed on to play with the Nippon Professional Baseball's Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan. He played for the team in 2016 before returning to the United States to pitch in which the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 2017. Volstad's pitch repertoire included a fastball, slider, and changeup. Over the course of his baseball career, he had a career record of 35-51, with an earned run average of 4.92.
