Curtis Granderson is a former professional baseball player who spent 16 seasons playing in the Major Leagues. Granderson was born on March 16, 1981, in Blue Island, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he played college baseball and was named a First-Team All-American. Granderson spent the majority of his career playing for the Tigers, New York Yankees, and New York Mets. Over the course of his career, he was known for his power at the plate, his speed on the basepaths, and his excellent fielding ability. He was a three-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger award winner, and a recipient of the Gold Glove award. Granderson also had a reputation as a leader and a role model on and off the field, known for his philanthropy and community involvement.

Granderson retired from baseball in 2020, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most accomplished and respected players of his generation. He finished his career with over 1,800 hits, nearly 350 home runs, and over 1,000 RBI. Granderson was also known for his durability, playing in at least 150 games in seven different seasons.
