Young was known for his durability and longevity as a pitcher, pitching in 815 games and starting 749 of them. He also pitched in 22 seasons, which is still tied for the most in MLB history. In addition to his impressive win record, he is also credited with perfecting the technique for throwing the spitball, a pitch that was legal during his early career. In 1937, Young was one of the first players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Young’s legacy in baseball extends beyond his record-breaking statistics. The Cy Young Award, which was first awarded in 1956, is given annually to the best pitchers in the American and National Leagues. The award recognizes the outstanding performance of pitchers and is considered one of the highest honors a pitcher can receive in the sport. Young’s influence on the game continues to be felt even today, more than 100 years after his career began. Read even more about Cy Young at Wikipedia
