Dale Murphy is a former American baseball player who had a very successful career in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on March 12, 1956, in Portland, Oregon. Murphy played as an outfielder for various teams in MLB, including the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, and Colorado Rockies. Murphy started his professional baseball career with the Atlanta Braves in 1976. He quickly made a name for himself by winning the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1977. Over the next few years, he became one of the most dominant players in the league, winning two National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in 1982 and 1983. Murphy was also an eight-time All-Star during his career and won five Gold Glove Awards for his excellent defense.
