Darrell May Autographs
Darrell May was a professional baseball pitcher who was born on June 13, 1972, in San Bernardino, California. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 46th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball draft as a late-round pick. May began his professional baseball career in 1993 by playing in the minor leagues before moving up to the major leagues in 1997. He played for the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers during his 10-year career in the Major League.
May’s best season was in 2003 when he posted a 10-8 record with 3.77 ERA for the Kansas City Royals. During this remarkable season, May won five straight games between May and June and earned the AL player of the week honors. In May's last season in the MLB, he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he struggled with a 7.11 ERA in six relief appearances before he was released on June 26, 2005. May finished his professional baseball career with a 26-43 win-loss record, a 5.61 ERA, and 338 strikeouts in 642 innings pitched.
After his baseball career ended, May became an assistant baseball coach at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. He also coached at Damien High School, where he helped lead the team to a California State Championship in 2011. Today, May continues to be involved in the baseball world as a coach, mentor, and trainer.
