Del Unser Autographs
Del Unser is a former American professional baseball player who played for 15 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1968 to 1982. Unser was born on December 9, 1944, in Vinton, Iowa. He spent most of his career as an outfielder and played for four teams, including the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, and Montreal Expos.
Del Unser began his career as an amateur free agent when he signed with the Washington Senators in 1966. He made his Major League debut in 1968 and established himself as a reliable hitter with good speed and defense. Throughout his career, he was known for his excellent eye at the plate, discipline, and ability to hit left-handed pitchers effectively. In 1973, while playing with the Phillies, Unser made history by becoming one of the few players to hit for the cycle in both the American and National Leagues.
Unser played in 1,758 career games and accumulated 245 doubles, 78 triples, and 95 home runs with a .258 batting average. After his playing career, Unser became a coach for various MLB teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. He retired in 2012, having spent more than 50 years in professional baseball. In 2021, Del Unser was elected to the Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame for his contributions to the organization during his time there as both a player and coach.
