Doc Medich was a professional baseball player who played for eleven seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1972 and 1982. He was born on December 9, 1948, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Despite his success, Medich is perhaps best known for a trade that sent him to Pittsburgh in exchange for superstar pitcher, Doc Ellis. The trade was widely criticized at the time, and many fans believed the Yankees had made a mistake. However, Medich went on to have a solid career, whereas Ellis struggled with injuries and was out of baseball in a few years.
