Don Lund, born on January 5, 1923, was an American professional baseball player and coach. He began his baseball career in 1945 when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played as an outfielder for various teams including the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns and the Baltimore Orioles. After his baseball career, Lund started coaching at the University of Michigan in 1959. He spent 10 years as the head coach for the Wolverines and won two Big Ten titles. He became a successful baseball coach during his time at Michigan and is credited with building a strong baseball program at the university. Lund coached various college teams during his career, including Florida State and Western Michigan. Lund also spent time coaching in professional baseball, serving as a coach for the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants and the Seattle Mariners.

In addition to his coaching career, Lund was a broadcaster for the Minnesota Twins for six seasons. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 for his contributions to the baseball program at the University of Michigan. Don Lund passed away on December 10, 2013, at the age of 90.
