Don Zimmer was an American professional baseball player, coach, and manager who spent more than 60 years in the game. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1931, Zimmer began his baseball career in the minor leagues in 1949, playing for several teams before making his Major League debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954. After his playing career ended, Zimmer stayed in baseball as a coach and manager. He served as a coach for the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox before being hired as the manager of the San Diego Padres in 1972. He later managed the Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees, leading the Yankees to a World Series championship in 1996 as Joe Torre's bench coach. Zimmer was beloved by players and fans alike for his fiery personality and his love of the game.

Throughout his career, Zimmer was known for his vast knowledge of the game and his dedication to his craft. He was a mentor to countless players and coaches, and his impact on the game of baseball cannot be overstated.
