Doug Mathis Autographs
Doug Mathis is a former Major League Baseball pitcher, born on June 7, 1983, in Marysville, California. Mathis attended the University of Missouri, where he played college baseball for the Tigers. He was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 13th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.
Mathis spent six seasons in the Major Leagues, playing with the Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Miami Marlins. Mathis made his Major League debut in 2008 with the Texas Rangers. He appeared in 96 games, starting 12 of them, and had a record of 3-8 with a 4.84 ERA. Mathis became known for his ability to pitch multiple innings out of the bullpen, providing his team with a valuable long relief option.
After his Major League career, Mathis became a coach and instructor. He served as a pitching coach for the Spokane Indians, the Texas Rangers’ short-season A affiliate, in 2016. In 2017, Mathis was named the pitching coach for the Down East Wood Ducks, the Rangers’ high-A affiliate. He also served as a pitching coordinator for the Rangers organization. Mathis is known for his dedication to the sport and his ability to provide guidance and support to young players looking to make it in the majors.
