Edwin Donald Snider, popularly known as Duke Snider, was a Hall of Fame centerfielder who enjoyed a successful baseball career spanning 18 years. Born on September 19, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, Snider started his professional career with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, where he played until 1962. Snider was a talented hitter, with a career batting average of .295, 2,116 hits, 407 home runs, and 1,333 runs batted in (RBI).
