Dustin Ackley was born on February 26th, 1988, and grew up playing baseball in North Carolina where he attended South Stokes High School. During his senior year, he hit an impressive .447 with 7 home runs and 22 RBIs. Ackley began his professional career in the minors, playing for various teams including the Single-A High Desert Mavericks and Double-A Jackson Generals. He made his debut with the Seattle Mariners on June 17th, 2011, where he went two for four in his first game. He continued to play for the team for five years, until being traded to the New York Yankees in 2015. In his career, Ackley had 636 hits, 46 home runs, and 228 RBIs.

Though Ackley had some success in his baseball career, he ultimately retired in 2020 after playing for the Los Angeles Angels for one season. He cited that injuries and his desire to spend more time with his family were the reasons for his retirement.
