Eric Lauer is an American professional baseball pitcher who plays for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. He was born on June 3, 1995, in Elyria, Ohio, and attended Midview High School in Grafton, Ohio. Lauer played college baseball at Kent State University, where he was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2016.
Lauer was drafted in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres, where he started his professional baseball career. He made his MLB debut on April 24, 2018, against the Colorado Rockies, and pitched six scoreless innings while allowing only four hits. Lauer had a solid rookie season, finishing with a record of 6-8 and a 4.34 ERA. He pitched for the Padres from 2018 to 2019 before being traded to the Brewers in December 2019.
Since joining the Brewers, Lauer has been used primarily as a relief pitcher. He has appeared in 41 games as a Brewer, posting a record of 1-2 with a 3.64 ERA. Lauer is known for his versatility, as he can pitch as both a starter and a reliever. He continues to develop his skills as a pitcher and is expected to have a bright future in the MLB.
