Ernie Banks, also known as "Mr. Cub," was a legendary baseball player who played for the Chicago Cubs from 1953-1971. He was born on January 31, 1931 in Dallas, Texas and began his baseball career playing for the Kansas City Monarchs, a Negro League team. Off the field, Banks was known for his infectious personality and his signature catchphrase, "Let's play two!" which he famously used to express his love for doubleheaders. He was active in the Chicago community, particularly in youth baseball programs, and was a beloved figure in the city.
