Frank Malzone Autographs
Frank Malzone was born on February 28, 1930, in the town of Bronx, New York. He began his professional baseball career in 1948, signing with the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent. During his early years in the minor leagues, Malzone played for various teams such as the Roanoke Red Sox, Scranton Red Sox, and the Louisville Colonels. He showed great promise and was soon selected to play for the Red Sox in 1955.
Malzone's big break came in 1956 when he became the starting third baseman for the Red Sox. In his first season, he hit a career-high 15 home runs and drove in 71 runs. Malzone would continue to play at a high level over the next few years, earning six consecutive All-Star selections from 1957 to 1962. He is regarded as one of the best third basemen of his time, known for his clutch hitting, sure hands, and strong arm. Malzone played his entire career with the Red Sox, retiring after the 1965 season with a lifetime batting average of .274, 133 home runs, and 728 RBIs.
Malzone's accomplishments on the field did not end with his baseball career. In 1995, he was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, and in 2011, he was awarded the MLB lifetime achievement award. Throughout his career, Malzone was known for his humble, hardworking, and dedicated nature, which made him a fan favorite and an inspiration to many. His contribution to the game of baseball will always be remembered, and he will forever be a part of the Boston Red Sox's rich history.
