Frank Quilici is a former American professional baseball player and manager who was born on May 11, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. He played high school baseball at Lane Technical High School and then went to the University of Minnesota, where he played baseball and basketball. In 1962, Quilici was signed by the Minnesota Twins as an amateur free agent and began his professional baseball career. Quilici played mostly second base for the Twins, appearing in his first Major League game on September 16, 1965. He played for the Twins until 1970. More about Frank Quilici

After his playing career, Quilici went into coaching and eventually became the manager of the Minnesota Twins in 1972. He served as the team's skipper for three seasons, from 1972 to 1974, compiling a record of 280 wins and 287 losses. Quilici was the first Twins manager to lead the team to a winning record (82-80) in his inaugural season, and he also led them to their first division title in 1972. His three seasons as manager were marked by some notable achievements, including the emergence of star players such as Rod Carew and Bert Blyleven.
