Frank Thomas is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest designated hitters of all time. He was born on May 27, 1968, in Columbus, Georgia, and grew up playing baseball and American football. During his 19-year MLB career, Thomas played for the Chicago White Sox (1990-2005) and Oakland Athletics (2006-2008), as well as brief stints with the Toronto Blue Jays (2008) and Oakland Athletics (2008). Known for his powerful hitting and impressive plate discipline, Thomas was a five-time All-Star, two-time American League Most Valuable Player (MVP), and won the batting title in 1997. He also finished his career with a .301 batting average, 521 home runs, 1,704 runs batted in (RBIs), and a .419 on-base percentage.

Thomas was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014, his first year of eligibility, receiving 83.7% of the vote. His number 35 was also retired by the Chicago White Sox in 2010. In addition to his success on the field, Thomas was also known for his philanthropy and community involvement, including the creation of the Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball Academy in Lisle, Illinois, which provides young athletes with training and guidance to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
