Fred Lynn was an outstanding baseball player famous for his impressive career at the Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on February 3, 1952, in Chicago, and grew up playing baseball with his friends on the sandlot. Lynn attended USC where he played college baseball and led his team, USC Trojans to the College World Series title in 1971. The following year, he was named the College Baseball Player of the Year. Lynn was eventually drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 1973 MLB draft. In his debut season, he became the first player in MLB history to win the Rookie of the Year award and Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the same season, thanks to his stellar performance in the outfield. He led the American League (AL) in runs scored, doubles, and hits while posting an impressive batting average of .331.

Fred Lynn spent 17 seasons in the MLB and played for several teams, including Boston Red Sox, California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, and San Diego Padres. Over the course of his career, he was an All-Star player 9 times and won 4 Gold Glove Awards. He also helped lead his teams to the postseason multiple times, including four trips to the World Series.
