Gavin Floyd is a former American professional baseball pitcher who played eleven seasons in the Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on January 27, 1983, in Annapolis, Maryland, and attended Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore. In 2001, Floyd was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the MLB draft. After several years in the minors, he made his major league debut for the Phillies in 2004. In 2007, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox, where he played for six seasons, proving to be a durable and effective pitcher. Throughout his career, Floyd had a career record of 74-76 with an ERA of 4.37 and 829 strikeouts.

Injuries plagued Floyd during the latter half of his career, and he retired after the 2016 season. Nonetheless, Gavin Floyd left his mark in baseball history, having won multiple awards and setting records.
