In 1974, when President Richard Nixon became engulfed in the Watergate scandal, Ford became President of the United States. One of his first decisions as president was to pardon Nixon for any crimes he may have committed while in office, which was a controversial and widely criticized decision. During Ford's presidency, the country's economy experienced challenges, including rising inflation, high unemployment rates, and an energy crisis. Nevertheless, Ford tried to stabilize the economy by implementing numerous policies, including his "WIN" campaign, which aimed to control inflation and cut government spending.

Although Ford lost his re-election bid to Jimmy Carter in 1976, his political career did not end there. He remained a prominent political figure until his death, serving on commission on the CIA's role in domestic surveillance, and writing an autobiography. Despite past criticisms, Ford was widely respected for his humility, patriotism, and his ability to navigate challenging political situations with dignity and integrity. His political career left an indelible mark on the United States, and he will be forever remembered for his unwavering commitment to public service. Read even more about Gerald Ford at Wikipedia
