Greg Luzinski Autographs
Greg Luzinski was a feared power hitter during his baseball career in the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Chicago in 1950, Luzinski grew up playing baseball and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the 1968 amateur draft. He quickly progressed through the minor leagues, reaching the majors in 1970 at the age of 19.
Luzinski's best years came while playing for the Phillies in the 1970s. He was known for his tremendous power, routinely hitting 30 or more home runs a season. In 1977, he hit 39 home runs and had 130 RBIs, helping lead the Phillies to the World Series. He was a three-time All-Star and earned a Silver Slugger award in 1975. Luzinski famously hit a ball off the scoreboard at old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, a feat that has only been accomplished by a few other players.
After leaving the Phillies in 1980, Luzinski played two seasons for the Chicago White Sox before retiring in 1984. He finished his career with a .276 batting average, 307 home runs, and 1,128 RBIs. Luzinski has since been inducted into the Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame and remains a beloved figure among Phillies fans.
