In 1948, Bauer was signed by the New York Yankees, and he quickly made an impact on the game. He was known for his exceptional defense, and he was a key player in the team's victory over the Cleveland Indians in the 1949 World Series. Throughout his career, Bauer's performance remained consistent, and he was named to the All-Star team several times. He played in 1,544 games for the Yankees, finishing with a batting average of .277.
