Hideo Nomo is a retired Japanese professional baseball player who was born on August 31, 1968, in Osaka, Japan. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Japanese players to ever play in Major League Baseball (MLB). Nomo made his debut in the MLB in 1995 as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his rookie year, he became the first Japanese player to pitch in a Major League game. He quickly rose to prominence in his rookie season and even made it to the All-Star team.
