Jack Lamabe Autographs
Jack Lamabe was a professional baseball player born on October 3, 1936, in Farmingdale, Massachusetts. He played as a right-handed pitcher and started his career in the Boston Red Sox in 1962. During his first season, he played a significant role in helping the Red Sox win the American League Pennant. In 1964, he was traded to the Houston Colt .45s, where he played until 1965. After that, he played for different teams, including the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Chicago Cubs, before retiring in 1968.
During his career, Lamabe started 137 games, accumulated a 50-53 record, and had a career ERA of 4.45. He was known for his fantastic control and was an excellent outfielder when he wasn't pitching. He played in the World Series for the Red Sox in 1967, where he was essential in Game 3, holding the St. Louis Cardinals to two runs in nine innings, allowing the Red Sox to win their first game of the series. His performance in that game helped propel the Red Sox to Game 7, which they lost in a close battle.
After retiring from baseball, Lamabe worked as a pitching coach for a time with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners. His love for the sport continued, and he remained influential in the game. On January 18, 2018, he passed away peacefully in his home in Florida at the age of 81. He left behind a legacy as an exceptional pitcher and an excellent teammate who helped lead the Red Sox to one of their most memorable seasons. His contribution to baseball will always be remembered, and he will forever be an icon of the sport.
