Born on January 2, 1975, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he attended Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, where he played baseball and basketball. Suppan made his major league debut with the Red Sox on July 17, 1995, and then played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, and San Diego Padres. He won a total of 140 games in his career and had a career earned run average (ERA) of 4.70.
