He made his Major League debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2004 after playing college baseball for the University of Kentucky. Blanton has had a successful baseball career, earning a World Series championship with the Phillies in 2008. In Game 4 of the World Series, Blanton hit a home run to help the Phillies defeat the Tampa Bay Rays. He was also a part of the Oakland Athletics team in 2006, which won the AL Western Division title.
