Joe Lis was a professional baseball player born on September 16, 1946, in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. He had a remarkable career that spanned over eight years from 1968 until 1975. He started his professional career with the Boston Red Sox in 1968 but played only four games for them. In 1969, he joined the Philadelphia Phillies and became a regular player in their team. He played in 153 games and had a batting average of .277 with 17 home runs and 75 RBIs. The following season, he played in only 54 games but still managed to hit 10 home runs and 37 RBIs.
