John Kruk

John Kruk was born on February 9, 1961, in Charleston, West Virginia. He was a left-handed first baseman and outfielder throughout his 10-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB). Kruk started his baseball journey at Keyser High School, where he played on the school's team. He then went on to attend Allegany College of Maryland and became an outfielder, leading the Trojans to a 42-2 record two years in a row. Kruk was selected in the third round of the 1981 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres. He made his major league debut with the Padres in 1986 and would spend three seasons with the team. In 1989, he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he played for six seasons. During his career, Kruk was a three-time All-Star, and in 1993 he helped lead the Phillies to the World Series. His career statistics include a .300 batting average, 100 home runs, and 592 RBI's.

After retiring from baseball in 1995, Kruk became a baseball analyst for ESPN. He provided commentary for many games, including the 2013 World Series. Kruk was known for his candid and humorous style on air. Today, he is still involved in baseball and is an analyst for NBC Sports Philadelphia.
