John Lackey

John Lackey was born on October 23, 1978 in Abilene, Texas. Starting his baseball career at Grayson County College, he was eventually drafted by the Anaheim Angels in the second round of the 1999 MLB draft. He made his Major League debut on June 24, 2002, and later became a key member of the Angels' pitching rotation, helping them win the World Series in 2002. Throughout his career, Lackey also played for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and finished his career with the Los Angeles Angels in 2017. More about John Lackey

One of Lackey's most memorable performances came in Game 7 of the 2002 World Series, in which he started as a rookie and delivered five shutout innings to help the Angels win the championship. He was also selected to the All-Star game in 2007 and 2011. Throughout his career, Lackey was known for his tough mentality and bulldog approach on the mound, often taking matters into his own hands when his team needed him the most. He also had a reputation for being a hard worker, both on and off the field, constantly striving to improve his craft.

In his 15-year MLB career, Lackey accumulated 188 wins, a 3.92 ERA, and 2,294 strikeouts. He was a three-time World Series champion, having won championships with the Angels in 2002, the Red Sox in 2013, and the Cubs in 2016.
