John Maine is a former professional baseball player who pitched for six seasons in the Major Leagues. Born on May 8th, 1981 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Maine started playing baseball at a young age and eventually attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he played on the school's baseball team. Maine's career in the Major Leagues saw him play for the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, and the Miami Marlins. Throughout his career, he was known for his consistent pitching and recorded a career 4.35 ERA with 539 strikeouts in 900 innings pitched. One of Maine's most notable accomplishments was in 2006 when he pitched a complete game shutout for the New York Mets in Game 1 of the National League Division Series, helping the team to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Despite his promising start in the MLB, John Maine's career was ultimately cut short due to injuries. In 2013, he announced his retirement from baseball and has since been involved in coaching at the high school level.
