Smoltz made his Major League debut with the Atlanta Braves in 1988 as a relief pitcher. He soon established himself as a dominant pitcher, earning three All-Star selections and a Cy Young award for his performance in the 1996 season. Over the course of his 21-year career, Smoltz played a variety of roles for the Braves, including starting pitcher, reliever, and closer. He was a key part of the Braves’ run of success in the 1990s, helping the team win five National League pennants and a World Series championship in 1995.

In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Smoltz is widely respected for his work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership. He was known for his ability to perform well in high-pressure situations, particularly in the playoffs. After retiring from baseball in 2009, Smoltz became a broadcaster for Fox Sports, providing analysis and commentary on Major League Baseball games.
