John Valentin Autographs
John Valentin is a retired American baseball player who spent most of his career playing for the Boston Red Sox as a shortstop and third baseman. He was born on February 18, 1967 in Mineola, New York and attended the Seton Hall University, where he played college baseball. Valentin was selected by the Red Sox in the fifth round of the 1988 Major League Baseball draft and made his debut for the team on September 10, 1992.
Valentin played for the Red Sox for ten seasons and was a key player during the team's successful run in the 1990s. He was known for his solid defensive skills, versatility and strong hitting. Valentin had a career batting average of .279 and hit 1,273 hits, 124 home runs and 558 RBIs. He was also an All-Star in 1995, Silver Slugger winner in 1995 and 1998, and a Gold Glove winner in 1995. Valentin became a free agent after the 2001 season and signed with the New York Mets, where he played for two seasons before retiring from the game after the 2002 season.
In addition to his impressive career as a player, Valentin has also worked as a coach and manager in the minor leagues. He spent several years as a hitting coach for the Mets organization and managed the Lowell Spinners, a Class A affiliate of the Red Sox, for two seasons. Valentin is also active in charity work and established the John Valentin Foundation, which hosts an annual golf tournament to raise funds for local children's charities. Overall, John Valentin's dedication, hard work, and accomplishments on and off the field have made him a respected and admired figure in the world of baseball.
