Marichal's most memorable game came on July 2, 1963, when he threw a no-hitter against the Houston Colt .45s (now the Astros). The game lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes, and Marichal struck out 5 batters while walking just one. He finished the season with a 25-8 record and a 2.41 ERA, and earned National League Pitcher of the Year honors. In 1983, Juan Marichal was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Marichal's career was also marked by a unfortunate incident in 1965, when he was involved in a bench-clearing brawl against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Marichal struck Dodgers catcher John Roseboro with a bat, resulting in a 14-minute brawl that is still remembered as one of the ugliest incidents in baseball history. Despite the incident, Marichal continued to be respected as one of the greatest pitchers of his generation and remained a beloved figure in Dominican baseball history.
